Why vote for an independent candidate?

 Convinced as I am that following a party line is not the best way to go these days, I decided to offer my services to the community as councillor, along with Jules Piette and Sébastien Landry who, if they are elected, also wish to remain free spirits. In the preceding mandate, I was mainly in charge of Culture and Communications. However, in my opinion, I found regrettable that several important decisions were taken without all the councillors being informed. Several other issues were completely neglected, although they had been designated as priorities. How can councillors defend and protect the interests of the community in such a context? As is demonstrated by the break-up of our former team, politics should not be a one-person affair. In all items under discussion, each councillor should be able to voice his own opinions freely, that is without being tied to a party line. Furthermore, we believe that ease of communication as well as transparency should be an integral part of community management. I will certainly strongly defend this position while believing that freely achieved consensus will always best serve community interests.

The next Council needs to find a better way of balancing opinions, and personally, I will be happy to work with any of the other councillors, regardless of their party affiliation. I feel ready for concrete action, and I believe that voters should choose each candidate for his individual strengths. In addition, I think that a better representation of women in the next council is of utmost importance.
